A butterfly is the landmark of Langeland.
The butterfly has become a symbol of and tribute to the discoverer of electromagnetism H.C. Ørsted who was from Langeland (Rudkøbing).
H.C. Ørsted invented 2000 Danish words, including the word BILLEDKUNST (picture art). However, he did not invent the word butterfly - but he has done like it -
SPREAD ITS WINGS AND ENRICHED THE WORLD!
